Dieringer School District

Looking for a great school district? Dieringer School District is amazing place for your children!

Established in 1890, Dieringer School District consolidated with Lake Tapps School District in 1936. The District’s three schools, Lake Tapps Elementary School, Dieringer Heights Elementary School and North Tapps Middle School, provide K through 8th grade education, and serve as hubs for community activities as well. The majority of Dieringer School District #343 is located in unincorporated Pierce County, bounded on the east by the White River, on the west by the Stuck River, on the north by the city of Auburn, and on the south by the cities of Bonney Lake and Sumner. The District surrounds the northern two-thirds of Lake Tapps and covers approximately 5.5 square miles.

The Dieringer School District has a student enrollment of approximately 1,500 students in grades kindergarten through eighth. Thanks to the vision and generous support of the Dieringer community, the district maintains excellent school facilities designed to provide students a personalized educational experience. Students in grades first through third are housed at Lake Tapps Elementary which moved in to a wonderful new facility in the fall of 2005. North Tapps Middle School serves students in grades sixth through eighth, and was expanded with the addition of a science wing and auxiliary gym in 2009. Dieringer Heights Elementary is home to students in kindergarten, fourth, and fifth grades; it received a five classroom addition in 2008. The district supports an additional 540 high school students who may select to attend any public high school. The majority choose to attend Auburn Riverside High School, Bonney Lake High School and Sumner High School.

The Dieringer School District has a very professional teaching staff who all meet the national Highly Qualified professional standards. They care for children and are dedicated to their academic achievement and personal growth. Teachers and administrators work diligently to implement new curricula, state and district assessments, and the Essential Academic Learning Requirements. I am impressed and delighted with what I see happening daily in the classrooms of the district. All staff is committed to the district’s primary mission – the care and education of our wonderful students.

Lake Tapps is about 4.5 square miles (12 km2) in surface area and has about 45 miles (72 km) of shoreline. The local terrain is such that the shape of the shoreline is very complex, with many inlets, peninsulas, and islands. Before the reservoir was created there were several smaller lakes, including one called Lake Tapps. The reservoir is held in place by a series of dikes. The lake is also known to hold many fish including carp, small mouth bass, perch, and tiger musky.
